Pricing & Quotes

How pricing and quotes work. Smaller jobs often get a flat price by text, while larger hardscaping projects start with a quick on-site visit.

How much mulch does my property need?

It depends on your bed square footage and the depth applied (usually 2-3 inches). We measure your beds and include the material in a flat quote, so you don't have to guess at yardage or haul bags yourself.

How much does a paver patio cost?

Paver patio pricing depends on size, the paver style you choose, site prep, and any add-ons like seating walls or steps. Because every project is different, the best way to get an accurate number is a free on-site estimate. Call or text (908) 578-5587 to set one up.

Do you require a deposit?

For smaller services like mulching or routine landscaping, payment is typically due on completion. For larger hardscape projects such as paver patios and walkways, we collect a deposit to schedule the job and order materials, with the balance due at completion.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, check, and major credit cards. For larger hardscape projects we'll lay out a simple payment schedule in your written estimate before any work begins.

How do I get a quote?

The fastest way is to call or text (908) 578-5587, or fill out the form on our Contact page. Tell us what you're looking for and where the property is, and we'll follow up to confirm details and pricing. Most quotes go out within a day or two.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes — estimates are always free. Call or text us at (908) 578-5587 with a few details or photos of your project and we'll get you a quote. For larger hardscape or landscaping projects, we'll usually schedule a quick on-site visit.

Process & Method

How we approach your project, from base prep and materials to the finished result.

Do you clean up after the job?

Yes, full cleanup is part of every job. We haul away debris and leftover materials and leave your property neat. You should come home to a finished space, not a mess.

When should I turn my sprinklers on and off in NJ?

In New Jersey, systems are typically started up in spring once the risk of hard frost passes, and winterized in mid-to-late fall before the first freeze. We can put both visits on a recurring schedule so you never have to think about it.

Can you repair or service my existing sprinkler system?

We can. We handle leak detection, broken or misaligned heads, valve and controller issues, and seasonal tune-ups on existing systems — even ones we didn't install. Call (908) 578-5587 and describe what's going on.

Do you install new irrigation systems?

Yes. We design and install efficient, zoned sprinkler and drip systems sized to your property so every area gets the right amount of water — no dry patches and no waste. We'll walk you through controller options too.

When is the best time to do landscaping in New Jersey?

Spring and fall are ideal for most planting and landscape work in NJ, but there's productive work to do in every season — from cleanups and mulching to hardscape builds. Tell us your goals and we'll recommend the right timing.

Do you offer landscape design?

We do. We'll help you plan plantings, beds, layout, and materials that suit your property, your style, and New Jersey's growing conditions. Design can be a standalone service or rolled into a full installation.

Do you repair or re-level existing pavers?

Yes. We can re-level settled areas, replace damaged pavers, refresh joint sand, and fix drainage issues on existing hardscapes — whether or not we installed them originally. Send a few photos and we'll tell you what's involved.

Can you build a patio with a fire pit or seating wall?

Absolutely. Seating walls, steps, fire pits, and pillars are some of the most popular add-ons we build into patios. We'll help you design a space that fits how you actually want to use your backyard.

Do pavers need to be sealed?

Sealing is optional but worthwhile. It helps protect against stains, enhances color, and stabilizes joint sand. We can seal your pavers as part of the install or as a separate service, just ask.

Will my pavers shift, sink, or get weeds between them?

Not when they're installed correctly. A properly compacted base prevents shifting and sinking, and we finish joints with polymeric sand that locks pavers together and resists weeds and washout. Occasional maintenance keeps them looking sharp for years.

Why does the base under pavers matter so much?

The base is everything. A paver surface is only as stable as the compacted gravel and bedding sand beneath it. We excavate to the right depth, compact in layers, and set proper edge restraints so your pavers stay level and don't shift or sink over time.

How long does a paver patio installation take?

Most residential paver patios take a few days to a week, depending on size, access, and features. Proper excavation and base work take the most time, and they're what make the patio last. We'll give you a timeline with your estimate.

Do I need to be home during the work?

Usually not. As long as we have access to the work area and clear instructions, most landscaping and hardscape work can be completed without you on site. For the initial walkthrough or design decisions, it helps to meet in person.

Safety & Insurance

Fully licensed and insured, and careful before we ever break ground. The things that give you peace of mind.

Do you call before you dig?

Always. For any project involving excavation, paver bases, irrigation lines, or grading, we have underground utilities marked before we dig, as required in New Jersey. It keeps your property and our crew safe.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. M&C Outdoor Services is fully licensed and insured for the landscaping and hardscaping work we perform in New Jersey. We're happy to provide proof of insurance on request, and for commercial clients we can supply a certificate of insurance (COI).

Scheduling

When we can get you in, and what happens if the weather doesn't cooperate.

How often should mulch be applied?

Most properties benefit from fresh mulch once a year, usually in spring, to keep beds looking sharp, retain moisture, and suppress weeds. Some high-visibility commercial properties refresh twice a year. We'll recommend a schedule that fits.

Do you winterize irrigation systems?

Yes. Fall winterization (a compressed-air blow-out) clears water from the lines so they don't freeze and crack over the NJ winter. We also handle spring start-ups to get your system running again. Schedule early — fall slots fill up fast.

Do you handle spring and fall cleanups?

Yes. Seasonal cleanups — cutting back beds, clearing leaves and debris, edging, and prepping for the season ahead — are a core part of what we do. Many clients pair cleanups with mulching for a fresh, finished look.

What happens if it rains on my scheduled day?

Weather happens, especially with outdoor work. If rain or unsafe conditions affect your scheduled day, we'll reach out to reschedule for the next available slot. Your project picks up as soon as conditions allow.

Do you offer recurring or seasonal maintenance?

Yes. We offer seasonal and recurring service for landscaping, mulching, cleanups, and irrigation so your property stays maintained year-round. We'll build a schedule that fits your property and budget.

How soon can you start?

It depends on the season and the size of the project. Smaller jobs like mulching or cleanups can often be scheduled within a week or two; larger hardscape builds book further out, especially in spring and early summer. Reach out early at (908) 578-5587 to get on the calendar.

Property Prep

A few quick things to take care of before we arrive.

Will the work damage my lawn, and how do you protect the property?

We take care to protect your property, using plywood or boards for heavy equipment where needed, working cleanly, and restoring disturbed areas. Some hardscape and irrigation work involves digging, but we leave the site clean and graded when we're done.

How should I prepare for my project?

Not much is needed on your end. Clear vehicles, furniture, or personal items from the work area if you can, and let us know about pets, sprinkler heads, or anything underground we should avoid. We'll handle the rest.

General

Recurring service, our guarantee, and everything else.

Pavers or poured concrete, which is better?

Both have their place, but pavers offer more design flexibility, easier repairs, and better resistance to NJ freeze-thaw cracking. If a single paver is ever damaged, we can replace it without redoing the whole surface, something poured concrete can't match.

What if I'm not happy with the work?

Your satisfaction is the goal. If something isn't right, tell us and we'll make it right, we'd rather hear about it and fix it than leave you unhappy. Clear communication before, during, and after the job keeps surprises to a minimum.

Do you offer a warranty on your work?

We stand behind our work. Hardscape installations are built to last and backed by a workmanship warranty, and many of the materials we install carry their own manufacturer warranties. We'll go over the specifics for your project in your estimate.

Do you work on both residential and commercial properties?

We do. M&C handles everything from backyard patios and home landscaping to commercial grounds, HOA common areas, and business properties across our New Jersey service area. Let us know your property type and we'll scope the right approach.
